چکیده

This paper deals with feedback transmission in IPTV (Internet Protocol Television). It describes all important units, methods and processes used in IPTV technology. First, it describes IPTV in general and focuses on the specific terms of use. The first section also contains basic information about classical TV transmission, discusses differences of IPTV technology and shows the advantages and disadvantages of IPTV. It also answers why this technology has a bright future. The following sections show the actual use of data transmission by ADSL technology. They explain all the necessary units like Head-End, ADSL, DSLAM. Also, they describe data transmission options as unicast and multicast. The next part of this paper explains the concept of hierarchical aggregation and the use of feedback targets for feedback transmission. Finally, the proposed IPTV system with TTP (Tree Transmission Protocol) protocol for hierarchical feedback transmission is described. Key-Words: Multicast, Feedback, Hierarchical Tree, IPTV, TTP, Signalization Protocol

Scalability Issues with the Hierarchical Feedback Aggregation for Large-Scale IPTV Systems

Hierarchical feedback aggregation is an enhancement to the RTP/RTCP (Real Time Protocol/Real Time Control Protocol) when the SSM (Source-Specific Multicast) is employed. The main purpose of feedback transmission is to provide information about media delivery and information needed for RTP/RTCP session management. This paper deals with a tree structure for hierarchical feedback aggregation speci...

Multicast Feedback Control Protocol for Hierarchical Aggregation in Fixed and Mobile Networks

For large-scale multimedia distributions, multicast is the preferred method of communication. ASM (Any Source Multicast) and SSM (SourceSpecific Multicast) are the two types of multicast used. ASM is designed for either many-to-many or one-to-many communication. SSM is derived from ASM. SSM is used when only one session member is allowed to send data. An example use of SSM could be an IPTV broa...

Data Gathering Model for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on the Hierarchical Aggregation Algorithms for IP Networks

The paper deals with the data gathering in the sessions with the large number of end nodes. This situation can be represented by the networks with the IPTV service or by the monitoring process in the large-scale wireless sensor networks. The main aim of this paper is to propose and investigate the implementation of the Tree Transmission Protocol for IP networks into the restricted wireless sens...

IPTV-RM: A Resources Monitoring Architecture for P2P IPTV Systems

Resources monitoring is an important problem of the overall efficient usage and control of P2P IPTV systems. The resources of IPTV can include all distributing servers, programs and peers. Several researches have tried to address this issue, but most of them illuminated P2P traffic characterization, identification and user behavior. The main contributions of this paper are twofold. Firstly, a r...

Deterministic pivoting algorithms for constrained ranking and clustering problems1

We consider ranking and clustering problems related to the aggregation of inconsistent information, in particular, rank aggregation, (weighted) feedback arc set in tournaments, consensus and correlation clustering, and hierarchical clustering. Ailon, Charikar, and Newman [4], Ailon and Charikar [3], and Ailon [2] proposed randomized constant factor approximation algorithms for these problems, w...
